Halima Mohamed's story is one of resilience, determination, and the transformative power of education. Five years ago, Halima arrived at a refugee camp with her family, having fled conflict in her hometown. Today, she is a qualified civil engineer working on infrastructure projects across Somalia.
"When I first came to the camp, I had lost hope," Halima recalls. "But Hawwaa Organization's scholarship program gave me a second chance. They didn't just pay for my education; they believed in me."
Through our education support program, Halima received a full scholarship to study civil engineering at the National University. She excelled in her studies, graduating top of her class in 2025.
Now, Halima is giving back to her community. She volunteers with our water and sanitation projects, using her engineering skills to design sustainable solutions for rural villages.
"I want other young people, especially girls, to know that no matter where you start, you can achieve your dreams with hard work and the right support," Halima says.
